You will need to put the car on a commercial grade charger, good for 50 amps minimum, as you cannot run the motor while flashing.

Here are the basic steps:

Go to Comfort Mode => TAL-Calculating
- Read and Save FA
- Activate FA
- Read and Save SVT Actual as SVT_ist
- Create an SVT Target
Under KIS/SVT Target Calculation Strategy, select Complete Flash
Select I-Step (shipm.) to match your original I-Level as read and shown in VCM I-Step (Shipment)
I-Step (target.) will be unselectable as it is fixed based on current PSdZData I-Level
Do a KIS/SVT Target Calculation and Save as SVT_soll
- Do a TAL Calculation and Save as SVT_tal

Go to Expert Mode => TAL-Processing
Load TAL (SVT_tal)
Load SVT Target (SVT_soll)
Select "Read FA" button.
Check radio button for "read VIN out of FA"
On ECU Tab, uncheck let top box in column "All" (All checked boxes should toggle to unchecked)
On ID Base Row for Kombi, make check boxes in blFlash, swDeploy, cdDeploy, and ibaDeploy columns.
Press Check software availability
Press Start and it will proceed with processing TAL to flash Kombi with new firmware.

Rheingold/ Esys delete “Lifetime” FSC

Is it possible to delete “Lifetime” FSC?
Yes, it’s possible. There must be a way to delete so called lifetime maps FSC code from NBT and return to normal behaviour of updates.

Just E-sys to generate a working code for any other region.
Insert map of other region, enter code, you don’t even have to wait for upload to finish.
Insert maps from region you use and enter code for that particular map update.
CIC/NBT in general can only store single code.

For f-series, just read fsd with esys check en of FSC, lifetime is AD7Q Also upgrade index is FF
For Eseries, fstool.

If someone doesn’t have functional fstool (for E-series), it’s even easier to download data03 file from /mnt/hbdebug/. Code is the last 20 characters of the file, and if the last 4 are AD7Q it is the lifetime code.
And the easiest way to change it with the tool is directly in Rheingold.

This method work. I removed the lifetime fsc code.
But the cic doesn’t update, usb and dvd.

How to update BMW DME Module using WinKFP easily?
Tool needed:
Before you start, you should firstly import the daten files cirrectly! Or the update will be fail.
Check below case:
I have run into an issue after installing WinKFP 5.3.1
I have INPA running ok, import the SGDA (.IPO files), ECU (.PRG files) and assembly line data. After choosing "Comfort Mode" -> "Update ZUSB", there is nothing on the "ECU family". It's empty.
Do I import the files incorrectly? Any solution please?

Solution 1. You can use WinKFP Tool to import the daten files. Here is a guide for your checking.
Solution 2. You can also import daten files via BMW coding tool. It's tested working.

Steps to Update BMW DME using WinKFP:
Connect BMW E46 car with laptop via BMW ICOM or BMW INPA K+DCAN.
Open WinKFP.
Click F1 button "Comfort mode".
Click F3 button "Update ZUSB" and you get a box displaying ECU families.
pull down the drop-down list to choose the ECU family (MDS42 for MS42, MDS43 for MS43, MDS451 for MS45.1, etc.), click OK.
Click F4 button "Enter VIN" and input car VIN number.
Click "Done", which goes back a screen.
Click F3 button "Prog ZB-Update", and you should get a box that displays your current ECU version and suggests an update version.
Click "Yes" and you get another box asking permission to program ECU.
Click OK and the update begins.
It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete for MS42/43, 45 minutes for MS45.1.
At the end it tells you that the programming was OK.
Reset adaptation values using INPA or PA Soft after it is done.
